Product Description
The Morane-Saulnier Type I was an improved version of the Type N, with a larger 110hp Le Rhône 9J rotary engine. A Vickers gun was normally carried, and -- unlike the Type N -- a synchronizer was used instead of deflector plates. The wings and elevators were slightly modified as well.
It is doubtful that the Type I saw use with French escadrilles, who were standardizing on the Nieuport 11 when it premiered. The RFC tried four with Squadron Nº 60, and at least 20 (and likely more) were sent to Russia.
This product comes in both 1:144 and 1:285/6mm/1:288 scales. The 1:144 scale has a single aeroplane. The 1:285 product comes with three aeroplanes, each with a removable propeller disk rather than propeller blades. They are joined by sprues to keep the cost down. You will have to carefully remove the sprues with snippers or nail cutters.
DESIGNER NOTE: Models at scales smaller than 1:144 may no longer be available. Shapeways discontinued the material for which they were designed, and the newer materials require that each and every model be adjusted to thicken surfaces like wings. If you are interested in a particular model in a small scale, please let me know and I will prioritize it higher in the queue.
