Product Description

These parts enable you to build a fast patrol vessel of the „Sea Axe“ design by the Damen Shipyards. This set contains the following parts:

  • Main mast

To build the full model, five sets of prints are needed:

In addition, a display stand is available (in Strong & Flexible Polished). To operate the model, additional parts are needed; however, all printed parts (e.g. levers and rudders) are included within the above sets of prints.

The Sea Axe design is a new hull design for small and medium sized vessels to sustain high speeds even in rough conditions. The vessels can reach and keep speeds in excess of 28 knots even in high winds and heavy seas.

The two patrol craft „P.01 Monte Sperone“ and „P.02 Monte Cimone“ are derived from the Stan Patrol 5509 design and were specifically built fort he Italian Guardia di Finanza. These vessels are the largest built so far out of the Stan Patrol family of vessels. Other ships oft he same type are in use by the Greek Coast Guard („Gavdos“, IMO 9768356). The vessels are mostly used for patrol and rescue missions along the national boarders.

The model is designed in 1:200 scale. It can be made to work with an RC control system to control the rudder, the propulsion, both bow thrusters, the radar, and the A-frames to drop and lift both dinghies (including the dinghy guides at the bow).  The model can, of course, also be built as a static display model, too. Free plans and an assembly manual are available at www.microboathobby.com (download section).
