A mold for making tiny sugar skulls - perfect for a coffee or tea for the holidays. The sugar skull tradition comes from the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration. These make tiny skulls with about the amount of sugar as half a sugar cube. Fun, easy activity for the family.
This mold is for a three small sugar skulls. Each skull is pressed into the mold one by one and all three are tapped out onto saran wrap or butcher paper to harden. Making a batch of skulls takes about 5-10 minutes.
For best results, use the ratio:
1 cup sugar
1 tsp meringue powder
1 tsp water
Which makes about 20 little skulls. If you omit the meringue powder, the skull will be much less defined.
