Product Description
This gearbox housing allows you to upgrade your Element RC IFS to be able to use Axial AR44 sized ring and pinion gears. This provides the ability to use the more durable, and more widely available gears that also have more options for over and under drive ratios. Any Axial AR44 (SCX10 II or Capra) or AR45 (SCX10 III) compatible ring and pinion gear set will work in this housing (including those from Vanquish and Boom Racing, etc).
You will need bearings to complete the upgrade. This uses the following bearings:
(1) 5x14x5 - Inner Pinion Bearing (from the AR44/AR45)
(1) 5x11x4 - Outer Pinion Bearing (from the AR44/AR45)
(2) 7x14x3.5 - Differential Locker Bearings (from either the Element IFS or the AR44/AR45)
The differential locker bearings can be re-used from the Element IFS housing, if needed, but the pinion bearings are both different sizes compared to the stock Element IFS. I recommend sealed bearings for all 4.
Refer to Element RC's website for instructions on how to access the front ring and pinion gears. Take note of the direction of the ring gear before removing the old one to ensure the new one is installed in the same orientation, otherwise, it will rotate in the wrong direction. Re-use all stock screws from the old IFS Gearbox Housing when installing this upgrade housing.
You will need to trim the battery box in order for the driveshaft to clear. There may be other modifications you will need to do for your installation.
