Parts in "Versatile Plastic Processed" material to complete the model of the anchor handling tug "Skandi Saigon" in 1:200 scale:
To complete the model as a static model, four different sets of 3D prints are needed:
If you do not intend to build a wooden deck, you can get an insert to fill the gap that is part of the aft deck to take the wooden planks; alternatively, you can cut this part yourself from 1mm plastic sheet, the details for the size are provided in the manual.
To build a working RC model, the following set of printed parts is necessary, too:
- Function Kit
This kit contains parts to make all four thrusters work, install a working radar, install a steam generator with the smoke stack, make the tow pins work and rotate and pivot the main crane.
A display stand is currently not available (yet).
Size of the model:
length: 37.5 cm
width: 8.7 cm
The "
Skandi Saigon" and her sister ships (
Skandi Atlantic,
Skandi Pacific and
Skandi Emerald) are typical examples for larger modern anchor handling and supply tugs. Operated by DOF Group, they are used for a variety of tasks, such as anchor handling, towage, safety services, and to supply offshore operations. The vessels are therefore equipped with a variety of winches and emergency equipment, such as several winches, storage areas and a large working area at the back of the ship.
Technical details of the original
length 75m
beam 17.4m
tonnage 3170 tons
The model is designed in 1:200 scale. It can be built as a model for static display or as a working RC boat. It is set up to enable radio control functions (RC), with the twin shaft propulsion in kort nozzles, the twin becker rudder and the bow thrusters and stern thrusters fully functional. As the model is rather small, the model can only be used in quiet water conditions. Additionally, the radar and lights can be set up to work, additional function such as the lower winch can be added by a skilled modeller, too. However, this model is not set up to be ready to run, it requires refinement and is only suitable for skilled model builders.
To complete the boat as an radio controlled model, further components are needed. It requires the advanced skills and experience to complete this. For the drive, the following parts are needed:
