Product Description
The destroyers of the Annapolis-class are the last series of the so called "Cadillac Destroyers". From the beginning the two ships are outfitted with a hangar for a Sea King ASW Helicopter. Because of the the heavy weight of the Hangar and Helicopter, the armament was reduced to the older 3" FCM MK 33 Turret. Instead of the heavier 3" L70 Turret of the Mackenzie Class. The Annapolis entering service in 1964. In 1984 the Annapolis and their sistership, the HMCS Nipigon received the so called Destroyer Life Extension (DELEX) refit. The Limbo Motar and the VDS were removed in favor of a new towed array sonar. They also get some new antennas and sensors on a new lattice mast. In 1996 she leaves the fleet. Later she was sunk as artifical reef near the Gambier Island, Howe Sound.
