These are plastic replacement or substitute parts for the three aluminium standups which allow the TRf201 front cowl to be fitted to a plate style chassis as per the the TRF201XR (42167XR or 42253), TRF201XM (42257) or TRF201XMW (42277).
They are a substitute for parts BB26 (19804747) and BB27 (13454902). They help anyone with a regular TRF201X (42167) or DN01 Zahhak (58477) to upgrade to a plate chassis, such as one of the Tamiyas mentioned above, or such as a Cobra Racing chassis. These front standups are pretty much impossible to buy separately.
To install, run an M3 tap through the centre of all three parts. Due to these being plastic replacing aluminium, we recommend changing away from the Tamiya manual fixings and fitting an M3 x 30 Countersink Screw to the shorter BB26 parts and fixing down the cowl using an M3 nut on the top. For the taller, central BB27 part, install onto the chassis plate using a Countersink M3 x 25 screw, and fix the steering retainer top plate with the M3 x 8 screw as per the manual. This will reinforce the entire length of these parts with steel fixings.
Whilst Versatile Plastic should be strong enough for most applications, if you want the strongest option, choose Gray PA12 and choose the option for the Glass Beads.
Cobra Racing (
