this d6 is based on (the convex envelope of) a faceted dodecahedral sphericon design.
it is similar to
bliku's sphericon d12 but my version is labelled to be used as a d6
i've designed this as part of an investigation into using sphericon derivations for various dice
reading the results:
- 1,2,5, and 6 are labelled on edges of which if either face of that edge shows up said number is the result
- 3 and 4 are labelled on what would have been vertices, but I have sliced the shape and put kite-shaped extended points to support the convex envelope of the original shape. if either of these kites is pointing up, the number inbeween them is the result.
You can view a rotating animation and the rolling pattern of the dodecahedral (and other) sphericon shapes in
this YouTube video (not mine) about Faceted Sphericons.
Sphericon based shapes have been used for other dice as well, such as Q-Workshop's d2 and d4 or bliku's d20.
I also used a similar approach to create a sphericon d12
