Product Description
This is a 00 scale model of the 1830s Liverpool & Manchester Railway locomotive Planet’s tender, a replica now existing at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. This model originated as a jumbo-ised N Gauge engine, suitably altered to 00 operative tolerances and to fit proprietary parts (notably the tender wheelbase for motorising), enabling simple construction. The matching locomotive body is separately available, suitable for either Planet or Tayleur.
Note: A separate fine detail version is also available in Smooth and Smoothest Fine Detail Plastic: https://www.shapeways.com/product/VBQGJ9CE9/00-scale-planet-tender-scratch-aid-fine-detail
While most of the engine is provided, the following parts have been omitted due to fragility, clearances or the need to sand the printed model:
Loco-tender coupling (some drilled metal and pins will suffice)
Coal and crew
NB the tender has space for lead to be added (necessary for traction).
The following additional parts need to be sourced separately to complete (web links given as examples only):
Screw-fit coupling (best to just glue/pin – mounting point included on the tender):
Hornby Spares - Coupling Unit and Screws - A1X Terrier - Pack of 1
