FMC 4200 Cubic Foot Bathtub Gondola (10)

This is a model of the FMC 4200 cubic foot Bathtub Rotary Gondola. The demonstrator car was introduced in December 1978 as AAR type J312. This design was used on the Coleto Creek Coal Trains that originated on the Denver and Rio Grande Western in Colorado and Utah and proceeded to run to Texas. The cars were originally lettered CCTX, but now can be found in many liveries. 348 cars were built and delivered for service between 1979 and 1982. The vast majority of the cars remain in service today. Models will need appropriate trucks, couplers and brake wheels. Additional weight is also recommended as the as printed cars are very light. The FUD versions are the heaviest. Truck pins will require a hole to be drilled in the base of the car. Loads are available as a separate item.
