Replacement nose cone for Testors 1:48 SR71 Blackbird.
The early blackbirds were fitted with LSAR systems and the nose cone design (A1 nose cone) was smooth along the chines with no sensor ‘humps’. Later the SR71 LSAR system was replaced with the ASARS system which featured forward facing sensors on the chines close to the nose tip.
This alternative nose cone is the A1 LSAR design and it installs per the nose supplied in the kit. I recommend spraying with light coats of filler primer and gently wet’n’dry sanding with fine grade paper between coats to achieve a smooth finish.
There is a 0.2mm in the tip which is for fitting the Air Master Pitot Tube (not supplied). Carefully drill out the hole to 0.50mm to install the Pitot Tube.
