Product Description
Nestled in a steep-sided glaciated canyon in the San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado sits the old mining town of Telluride, now a favorite destination for skiiers and outdoors tourists. This large map of Telluride and the surrounding mountains contains everything that makes this valley beautiful. In addition to the town and all of Telluride Ski Resort, this map contains the full valley from the airport South to Ames and Ophir Loop, with the town of Ophir just on the South edge of the map. Over Lookout Peak and Columbine Lake, the maps contains a small portion of the Million Dollar Highway. All the high basins well-known to Jeep drivers are here: Bridal Veil Basin, East Basin, Ingram Basin, Savage Basin with all of its ruins, Imogene Pass and Basin, Chicago Peak, and Middle and Marshall Basins. The North side of the map contains Yankee Boy Basin, Blue Lakes Pass, and Mt. Sneffels, the highest peak in the area, with a summit of 14156' (NAVD88). TinyMtn models are most affordable in the "Sandstone" and "White Strong and Flexible" materials. This model is in "Sandstone," which is a glued gypsum material. When you receive the model it will be ready for display, though it may smell funny and need some time to air out. "Sandstone" models are much more brittle than "White Strong and Flexible" models, but feel more like light stone. Do not soak it in water, though you can safely seal it with Polycrylic or a similar water-based clear spray sealant. Read more about this popular material here.

All TinyMtn models have hollow bottoms - this is to save on weight, and thus cost. Many larger models also have extra flanges on their undersides to increase rigidity and strength. To make the model more solid, you should feel free to carefully pour resin into the bottom cavity, or glue a properly-sized slab of wood or another material into it.

These models have been optimized for the above materials, and are not offered in other materials for strength or cost reasons. If you need one in another material, please tinymtnbiz@gmail.com and we'll do our best to fulfill your request.
