Product Description
Wright R-790 / J-5 Whirlwind was a series of nine-cylinder air-cooled radial aircraft engines built by Wright Aeronautical Corporation, with a total displacement of about 790 cubic inches (12.9 L) and around 200 horsepower (150 kW). These engines were the earliest members of the Wright Whirlwind engine family. On May 21st 1927, Charles A. Lindbergh stunned the world by flying solo and non-stop from New York to Paris in an airplane powered by a single Wright J-5 Whirlwind engine. To accomplish this, the engine had to run continuously for over 33 hours. The astounding thing is that only five years before, no successful air-cooled engine even existed in the United States.

This kit contains all necessary parts for assembling ONE engine miniature under 1/16 scale. It can make a fine diorama display alongside with same 1/16 figures or other aircrafts or vehicles, although it will look just fine on its own of course. The engine's stand is NOT included. Any extra diorama accessories are not included and should be purchased separately.
