For N20 Motors. SL2-BW-Mk1 Mag Chassis with tunable downforce magnets! It's based on the HWP-SL2 — one of the narrowest HO slot car chassis available. But it adds the ability for the driver to custom tune the amount of downforce by adjusting the position of the magnets with set screws!
Perfect for custom builders and racers alike. Chassis axle spacing is backwards compatible with many T-Jet screw-on bodies.
The chassis features a fully adjustable wheelbase and N20 motor easy-mount system. New universal motor cradle should tightly hold most variations of the N20 can motor. Allows for fore-aft positioning of motors with short drive shafts. Simply slide the motor in, rotate 90 degrees and attach the motor clip to lock it in.
Optional motor clips are available which allow the fitting of many major body types including AFX Magnatraction/AW X-traction, AFX Super G+, Tomy AFX Mega G/G+*, Tyco 440X2 (Wide and Narrow), AW Super III, MicroScalextric, and Lexan bodies, with more on the way!
You need to provide your own N20 motor, magnets, set screws, braids, axles, wheels, tires, gears, wires, etc. You can use your choice of axles, crown & pinion gears. Uses 10-32 1/4" or M5 Metric set screws. Make a tap for cleaning up the printed threads by grinding grooves into a matching thread bolt, then twist it back and forth in the mag barrels, a little bit at a time.
JAG Hobbies has all the running gear parts you need including the motor, gears, etc. And Tyco-Pro style wipers if you choose not to run braids. K& J Magnetics is a great source for magnets. And most local hardware stores will carry the set/grub screws needed for the magnet barrels.
For those who haven't built one of the SL chassis before, please note the axle holes are deliberately undersized so the builder can drill them to the axle diameter of their preference. Use a drill bit and twist by hand to open up the axle holes. Use sandpaper or jewelers file to open up the rear axle slots until you get a secure snap-in fit.
