HO Large Set - NSWR Small Station Signs

This is a 'large' set of small wall-mounted NSWGR station signs consisting of as many signs as I have been able to find in photographs of NSWGR station buildings:

The short signs sometimes only have a bracket underneath, in this case, the upper bracket can be easily removed.

The signs are painted in several ways and it is best to refer to photographs of actual stations. Some are all white with black text, others have a black background to the white text with a white surround to the sign.

The signs should be sprayed with an airbrush to achieve a very thin coating of the background colour.

If the background is white then the black text can be achieved with a fine pointed 'Sharpie' permanent ink pen held so that the tapered edge wipes across the lettering and perhaps the timber sign edging depending on the style chosen.

If the background is black then a white text effect could be achieved by scraping the black paint from the tops of the text with a new flat-edged blade. Although the Smooth Fine Detail Plastic is translucent a white effect can be caused by the scraping of the surface.

Alternatively, the sign could be sprayed with a thin coat of white then it would need to be allowed to harden for a few days. After this black paint can be carefully applied to the background and after drying the black can be scraped away with the edge of a sharp blade to reveal the white lettering.

Cut the signs from the sprue at the joint with the sprue, this will leave a 1 mm diameter mounting peg. Drill a 1 mm hole and glue in place.

Please note that the signs are 0.7mm thick and as most signs are under the awning of the station building they will be out of the way and safe from the possibility of breakage. If a sign is on a wall of the building outside the awning it is suggested that the sign be mounted without glue for possible replacement if broken during handling of the building.
