Product Description
The first of the many experimental modifications that the Soviets made to the KV-1S. This particular model is armed with a flamethrower in the turret, which is unusual for WWII flame tanks, which usually had the flamthrower mounted in the front of the hull, replacing the hull machine gun. Because the flamethrower was in the turret, the 76.2mm cannon was swapped out with a 45mm cannon placed inside a dummy 76mm tube to fool the Germans. However, the gun was considerably shorter, so I don't know how well that actually worked. Overall, flame tanks were never that popular with the Red Army, and although this one was slightly more popular than the original KV-8, only 42 were made. An additional 25 were made with the flamethrower mounted in a KV-1 turret on the KV-1S hull, and it was still called KV-8S. You can make this one by putting the turret from my KV-8 model onto the hull included with this one.
