Product Description
I insist on using the term "hemiolia" for this ship and never "hemiola," since the latter is used in music. Both mean "one-and-a-half" in Greek, and while I can understand the reason for the musical term being named such, I'm not sure what it applies to on this warship, which has a single bank of 28 oars. Though the Phoenicians used galleys just like everyone else, they were not as popular as the faster bireme, a ship not known to be used by anyone else. Thus, whether or not the Phoenicians actually used this exact type of ship is debatable.
