Product Description
Of the ten Zeppelin V-Type "Height Climbers" built, three came out of the Staaken factory - these were build numbers LZ103 (Navy L56), LZ108 (Navy L60) and LZ109 (Navy L64).
The two main naval Zeppelin factory sites were at Friedrichshafen (including nearby Lôwenthal)
on the northern shore of Lake Constance (the Bodensee) in Southern Germany, and Staaken on the west side of Berlin.
Differentiating between the products of the two construction centres is quite easy because each used a particular rudder shape. For Staaken they were rectangular (see the diagram above,) whilst for Friedrichshafen they were the familiar trapezoids with a cutoff corner.
This model, available in either 1:700 or 1:600 scale, can be finished as any one of the three distinctive Staaken built members of the German Naval Airship Division's L53 Class.
The Friedrichshafen built V-Types are in the shop here.
