NW C30-7 Clasp Sideframes [Atlas OEM]

C30-7 OEM

One set of HO scale triple clasp sideframes for the Atlas U33C, U30C or C30-7 drive with OEM trucks (that is, a stock model having a unique front and rear truck). This set of sideframes is intended to represent the trucks that were installed on Norfolk & Western (later, Norfolk Southern) C30-7 locomotives with clasp type brakes.

A small compromise from the prototype has been made in the design of these trucks to accommodate the unique axle spacing of the front and rear trucks on the OEM Atlas U30C, U33C and C30-7 drive. The center axle of the rear truck sideframe pair is shifted toward the cab end of the locomotive by 0.053 inches. 

If the modeler wishes to avoid this compromise, it is possible to change out the rear truck assembly for another front truck assembly. I have designed a set of sideframes for the C36-7 that will fit the modified drive with two front trucks and remain faithful to the prototype.
