Product Description
The FM 24/29 is a french light machine gun firing the 7.5mm MAS M1929C cartridge (7.5x58mm), feeded by 25 rounds box mags, manufactured by MAC (Manufacture d'Armes de Cahâtelleraut). This gun was intended to replace the unreliable FM Chauchat M1915 from World War I, it win multiple perfomance test against the Hotchkiss M1922, the MAS FM1922, the Lewis Mk I, and the Browning B.A.R. M1918.
The Fm have two triggers : one for semi-automatic fire and the other one for full-automatic fire. This gun could be mounted on side-car or on vehicle gangway thanks to an reserved emplacement in his hand-guard.
This gun was recycle by the Wehrmacht on the atlantic wall.
The FM 24/29 remain in service in the French army until 1960, (replaced by the AA-52) and until 2006 in Gendarmerie Nationale ( 7.5mm MAS ammo wasn't produced anymore).
