And here we have a pair of Aurora-class cruisers, for convenience of ordering.
Somewhat larger than the colonial Pleiades-class, but lacking some of its modularity, the Aurora was designed for rapid mass-production as the mainstay of Earth's defenses. As colonies grow and establish themselves, these ships are being seen defending other worlds as well.
The Aurora-class' main weapons suite is centered around turreted anti-proton cannons, with six each of medium and light cannons. A single heavy cannon is set in a fixed nose mount - it may lack the firepower of the vaunted Nova Cannon but it can fire much more quickly. Four heavy laser turrets provide anti-fighter firepower, while numerous point-defense lasers are hidden about the hull to defend against incoming missiles. Sixteen reloadable missile silos provide an extra punch when needed, a single volley capable of shattering even a battleship with a lucky hit.
