Product Description
1/350 Scale 19th Century onwards watertight deck hatches (assorted). This set of hatches is modelled with the coaming and blast plates for positioning on the weatherdeck/quaterdeck. Each hatch has been modelled using Norman Ough plans and the Anatomy of the ship series and should cover most type of common deck hatches. Coaming is 12" deep on these hatches with the blast plates, see My Shop for hatch versions and 6" deep coaming versions. Printed on the sprue for ease of painting/airbrushing. This set has been specifically modelled for 1/350 scale.

Set contains:
  • 6x 5x4ft Quarterdeck Hatch
  • 6x 5x4ft Quarterdeck Hatch with escape manhole
  • 2x Double Skylight Covers (bank of 4)
  • 6x Single Skylight Covers (Bank of 2, more common)
  • 8x 3.6 x 2.3ft Hatches with escape manhole
  • 16x 3.6 x 2.3 Hatches (common)
  • 16x 3.6 x 2.3 Hatches (angled, common)

Some part cleanup will be necessary. The 3D printing process uses a waxy substance to support certain part features during the printing process. Although the parts are cleaned by Shapeways, some waxy residue may remain.  It can be safely removed with water and a mild aqueous detergent like "Simple Green" using an old, soft toothbrush, Q-tips or pipe cleaners.  Customers report that "Bestine" and "Goo Gone" also work well.During the printing process, liquid resin is cured by ultraviolet light.  Microscopic bits of resin may remain uncured.
Let your parts sit in direct sunlight for a few hours to fully cure the resin.

Water-based acrylic paints meant for plastics is strongly recommended. Other paints, especially enamels, may not cure on Frosted Detail 3D-printed plastics.
Use dedicated model sprue cutters to remove parts to minimise the risk of damage to parts.
