Product Description
HO Slot Car Body fits HWP, Aurora Magnatraction, and Aurora T-Jet chassis.
All chassis will need to use the included front axle carrier due to the long wheelbase. Body snaps or screws on to HWP & AFX/AW chassis using the standard body clips. If clipping in an AFX-style chassis, it may be necessary to trim out the middle screw post, and use narrower wheels and axles to tuck them into the wheel wells. The front axle/pickup braid carrier is provided and screws into the front screwpost which also holds a T-Jet style guidepin.
The middle and rear screw posts are used for T-Jet chassis, but can also be used for earlier model HWP chassis.
This body is more expensive than our other bodies because it's size is more like two regualr bodies stacked on top of one another. It's got a long wheelbase, proportional to it's Height and Width. Smaller than a HO Racing Rig truck, but certainly bigger than a conventional car. See pics below for a comparison.
"Versatile" plastics have a gritty surface and will require priming with a couple of light coats of a spray filler/primer like Rustoleum. Sand between coats with fine grit paper, ending with a final 1000+ grit wet sand. Then color and clear coat for a super smooth finish. Colored "Versatile" plastic is surface dyed and not worth the added cost to print, since most of you will want to sand and paint your car.
Black Acrylate Resin plastic was considerably smoother, which provided a glass smooth finish with far less effort than the Stong and Flexible material. Unfortunately, Shapeways just discontinued the material. If you're as unhappy about it as many others are, please contact them to request they bring it back.
You have to drill the deliberately undersized front axle holes to your specs. Use a drill bit the size of your axle, and twist it through by hand. Start with a smaller bit and work your way up to the size need for your axle.
Show off your modelling skills! Send me pics of your builds, and I'll include them in the photo gallery with your name in the caption if you like.
