Ash Tray Clip Phone Mount for 67-72 Chevy Truck

I designed this part to clip onto the ash tray of 67-72 Chevy Trucks so I that I could mount my phone. It was designed to allow a Ram Mount ball with a 1/4-20 Female thread to be attached to it. The part is designed to accept a 1/4-20 Bolt with a recess that is perfectly sized to accept the head of the bolt.

 

Before I got the part. I discovered these cheap "Magnetic Phone Holders" that were alot cheaper than a Ram Mount Ball, an arm, and thier X-Grip. So I ordered one for $5 and took it apart. I discovered inside under the rubber outer cover there are 4 magnets on a steel plate. So, I just welded a couple nuts to the back of the steel plate and screwed the bolt into the back.

 

The magnetic phone holder I ordered was designed to clip onto an air vent. It includes a thing piece of steel that you put inside your phone case.
