Diamond earring pair

The earrings are each a model of part of a diamond crystal: each carbon atom connects to 4 others, except at the edges of the model. There are 34 carbon atoms shown at the ends of the rods, which represent the bonds between them. The tetrahedral crystal pattern has both cubic and hexagonal symmetries.
