King Cuts Miyazaki. This is a 4 inch / 10 cm version of my sculpture depicting Hayao Miyazaki as a combination of his own creations. It's a limited edition available until one hundred (100) 3D-prints are made. 80% of the price covers the 3D-printed material itself, 20% I added for my labor on the 3D model.
If You Wait Patiently... Miyazaki will appear as a quiet forest spirit. He serves his princess well who protects him from getting Spirited Away by a river dragon with no face. Luckily s loyal Totoro sits atop his back because the legs of Howl's Moving Castle can only carry him so far.
Working the 3D Model. I 3D-scanned my original wood carving and re-sculpted this scan with 3D-modelling software. I enlarged, deleted or altered certain parts. Some things need to be thick to be 3D-printed. Enlarging also raises the cost of the material. I worked to lower the cost & meet the technical spec's. Including the 3D-scan, patching, re-sculpting details & color 'paint' job, it took me about 23 hours to develop this for 3D printing.
The Wood Carving. See pictures, videos and more about my original Miyazaki wood carving here on my website. The piece is currently available to purchase. The original 18 inch sculpture took me weeks to carve from scratch in western red & yellow cedar wood, then paint in acrylic. It was part of my "King Cuts" series of wood carvings depicting famous film directors mashed with their characters. I'm working on more 3D-print editions from this series.
