Product Description
Alone, each of Whister and Blackcomb Mountains in British Columbia, Canada, would be among the largest ski resorts in North America, but after fully merging in 2003, the combination is undisputably the largest. Its 8000 skiiable acres is larger than Vail (5500 acres) or Big Sky/Moonlight Basin (6000 acres), both of which are available here at TinyMtn. In addition, Whistler-Blackcomb's true skiiable vertical is the second-highest in North America (1595m/5234'), only slightly less than Revelstoke, also in BC, Canada. The merging of the two resorts helped Vancouver clinch the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In 2008, the Peak 2 Peak Gondola opened and connected the two resorts high above Fitzsimmons Creek. The resulting gondola lift is not only the highest above ground (436m/1430'), but has the longest unsupported span (3.03km/1.88mi) of any lift in the world. Riding it requires either ignorance or a high degree of trust in the Austrian, Swiss, and Canadian engineers who built it, because for most of the journey, you are simply unable to see the ends of the cables that are supporting you.

This model of Whister Blackcomb contains the entire skiiable resort, plus some dramatic ridges above and behind the summits. To the Northwest, you'll find all of Whister and Whistler Creek, plus Alta Lake and Lost Lake. This is also the largest of TinyMtn's ski resorts, with 47% more area than our model of Vail, Colorado.

Model scale is 1:100000
Model covers an area approximately 12 by 12 km
Altitudes covered: 614m to 2457m
There is no vertical exaggeration applied to this model. This is a true-to-life scale model of a real place.

TinyMtn models are most affordable in the "Sandstone" and "White Strong and Flexible" materials. This model is in "Sandstone," which is a glued gypsum material. When you receive the model it will be ready for display, though it may smell funny and need some time to air out. "Sandstone" models are much more brittle than "White Strong and Flexible" models, but feel more like light stone. Do not soak it in water, though you can safely seal it with Polycrylic or a similar water-based clear spray sealant. Read more about this popular material here.

These models have been optimized for the above materials, and are not offered in other materials for strength or cost reasons. If you need one in another material, please tinymtnbiz@gmail.com and we'll do our best to fulfill your request.
