The Consolidated N2 was one of a family of two-seat trainer and sports biplanes produced in the United States and Canada in the 1920's and 1930's. They all shared the same basic design and varied mainly in their power plants.
Many were still in use as military trainers at the start of WWII
Perhaps the most famous versions were the six Consolidated N2Y's built for the US Navy with a trapeze hook for airship docking training.
