Product Description
GWR Tadpole, Diagram S4 - Body (Part 2)
History.
These 6-wheeled 4 plank open fish wagons were built between 1887 - 1888 originally as broad-gauge convertibles. However, In 1892 they were converted to standard gauge and numbered between 42764 – 42799. The fish would have been packed in ice, in either barrels or crates and due to the perishable nature of the cargo the wagons were built to run in passenger trains at express speeds.
This Kit depicts the wagons in their standard gauge form.
Initially these wagons would have been in the standard goods wagon grey but were repainted the brown vehicle livery around 1913 when they were renumbered 2009 – 2044 in that list.
My Tadpole kits comprise two parts, a Chassis (Part 1) and Body (Part 2) which are designed to clip together.
This body (Part 2) is for a GWR Tadpole without Guard's compartment and is designed to be a push fit onto the chassis. If painting in the later brown vehicle livery it is recommended that the two parts are painted before assembly.
