Product Description
This is a variant of Adapter for Dyson V7/V8 to pre-V7 tools, with a retention clip.
Note: The clip only needs to be lifted a few mm to remove the tool, don't yank on it, see the video.
This adapter takes non-powered¹ pre V7 tools and clicks into the V8 vacuum.
Both the older circa-DC35 tubular tools and newer DC59/V6 ones (with the two tabs on the side) fit.
A friend of mine said when cleaning his car, the only thing he uses the adapter for, he stretches out the flexi-tube and it pops-out of the adapter. Personally I think he is abusing the flexi-tube extending it to that degree.
So I designed this variant, where the tool is held by a clip. You need to lift the clip to remove the tool. That is the down side, you need two hands to remove a tool; with the original you can just pull the tool out. He was too cheap to buy this version at cost & still uses the original, so it can't be that bad...
See the video to compare them.
So, if you are into hyperactive cleaning you should consider this. For general use I suggest the original.
This product sux pretty well, but there is a small gap letting a little air through the adapter. It has provision for an o-ring to be inserted to fully seal the gap. You will need a 34mm ID 2mm CS² o-ring. It does work well without the seal.

Check my shop for wall mount holders for V7/V8 & pre-V7 tools, and other mounts.

¹ Powered tools fit, but obviously won't get power...
² O-rings are commonly specified by Internal Diameter (ID) & Cross Section (CS). Some online sources specify Outside Diameter & Width or Thickness. This would be 38mm OD x 2mm Thick. Bigger is bad, a smaller 37 OD/33 ID x 2mm ring will also fit. Push the o-ring into the recess & under the raised ridges, press it in by inserting an accessory/tool.
I found one for $0.25 at a local shop selling bearings gaskets & hydraulic parts etc, it's not a typical plumbing size, but ask at your hardware store. You can get 10 delivered for a few dollars online, message me if you can't find one.
