Starfish Mermaid Mug
One semester I studied Marine Biogogy where Steinbeck did his research for The Log of the Sea of Cortez. For one exercise we were dropped off alone on various parts of small Islands to spend time quietly observing. I sat still in the tide pool so quietly until starfish crept over my feet and hands. I felt as peaceful and at one with nature as a mermaid as the star fish slowly inched and clustered over my limbs.
Thinking of that peaceful moment I wanted me to create something similarly peaceful with starfish as a way to quietly and mindfully start and finish one's day.
One of our passions is giving back, so we will be donating 10% of our profits from this piece to the
Marine Mammal Center. Their core work is the rescue and rehabilitation of sick and injured marine mammals. Since 1975, their hospital facility has rescued and treated over 18,000 elephant seals, sea lions, whales, sea otters, harbor seals, fur seals, dolphins, harbor porpoises and more – many from threatened and endangered species. Thank you for helping us make a difference!
