A ring made from high resolution 3d printed wax and lost wax casting, hand polished to a smooth finish.
A stair is a series of platforms that take you from one elevation to another. What's the significance of a descant, of a landing at the bottom, or of a downward progression? When unworn, the stair steps down to a hole, without a landing. But when wearing it, the skin creates a soft landing. Sometimes a stair is a barrier while other times it is an opportunity to move between elevations.
The stair is a reoccurring theme in my sketches, representing the concepts of ascension and descent. This is the second in my architecture series, playfully taking architectural forms and embedding them with meaning aside from the obvious. The ring is made using parametric computer algorithms, which allows the design to adapt across all ring sizes with every step staying meaningful.
