Product Description
  • A set of 11 square posts to make a cable barrier system for your custom magracing or slotracing track.
  • Looks great and helps prevent cars from ending up in the weeds!
  • Main posts are .25" x .25" x .875" tall,  like 8" x 8" x 28" wooden posts at 1/32 scale.
  • Each post has pin .375" long attached to bottom of post for easy installation.
  • Makes 31.5" of wire rope barrier with posts spaced about 3.125" apart using 2 pieces of 36" long piano/music wire.
  • Can also be used with fishing line, sewing thread, or guitar strings, instead of piano wire. Thread size 346 looks good & is plenty strong.
  • Order BP1-30 for 30 more matching tall posts.
  • Order BP1-20 for 20 more matching tall posts.
  • Strips of 3mm thick Sintra attached to these posts makes excellent, smooth, and very flexible safety barriers for race tracks.

Installation Instructions Using Piano Wire
  1. Paint posts if desired.
  2. Separate posts from sprue using sharp knife, razor saw, or hacksaw blade.
  3. Touch up paint.
  4. Where you want the posts located, drill holes in baseboard of track slightlly larger than diameter of pin, if baseboard is hard like MDF. Make holes slightly smaller, if baseboard is soft like XPS rigid foam insulation board. Space holes about 3.125" apart on centers, for cable barrier made with all 11 posts and 36" long  piano/music wire.
  5. About 1.75" from the location of the short post at each end, start a small screw in the baseboard which will be used to anchor the ends of both cables to the baseboard at each end.
  6. With a pair of needle nose pliers, form a J hook in one end of 2 pieces of piano/music wire. Wire 36" long is needed to make a system when the end posts are 31.25" apart on centers. Wire diameter of .025" (.6mm) to .032" (.8mm) works fine.
  7. Slide both pieces of wire through both holes in all of the posts.
  8. Wrap the end of both wires around one of the screws and draw down the screw as needed.
  9. Put a dab of thick glue in the holes and press the posts into the baseboard.
  10. Wrap the other end of both wires around the other screw and draw down the screw as needed.
  11. Before glue sets, straighten up the posts if needed
  12. When glue is cured, enjoy your cable barrier system that is both attractive and functional.
