Product Description
New SST in 1990! Continuing work completed by Boeing and Lockheed for the US Supersonic Transport Competition, NASA looked at the possibility of a future environmentally acceptable and economically feasible supersonic passenger transport. Carrying 300 pasengers and travelling at Mach 2.4 the aircraft would cost passengers only slightly more than conventional subsonic aircraft. The resulting designs maintained a passing similarity to the winning Boeing 2707 design and the Lockheed L-2000. Although the program did not produce an actual aircraft, it did help lead to a shift towards cheaper and more fuel efficent aircraft rather than faster ones.
