Ambassador-Excelsior Neck #1

A drop in replacement neck for the AMT/ERTL USS Excelsior model for those desirous of a different look. The ribbing gives the ship an Ambassadoresque look, and might represent a ship partwar between the Movie and TNG eras.  The part will work on both the older, original Excelsior model and the newly remastered model, although it was optimized for the newer kit. There are some detail differences betrween the lwoer saucer sections of the two models. The neck is intended to fit snugly, but the expansion and contraction of various parts during the printing process may just perhaps make the part fit slightly too tightly. If so, a few swipes around the periphery of the mating surfaces of the model and the printed part should suffice to allow for a nicer fit. Use caution if sanding the neck as printed parts can be brittle and easily break.

The raised details are no more than 0.45 mm proud of the hull and a few quick swipes with a sanding stick can reduce or eliminate them for those who prefer a smoother look. There are two docking ports on each side of the neck so be careful to not obliterate this detail if you choose to reduce the details.

Clean the part in lukewarm soapy water, scrubbing LIGHTLY with a toothbrush or similar to remove any printing residue and allow to dry. Painting is best done with acrylics. As the part will be slightly translucent due to the printing medium, you may wish to also paint the interior of the neck to reduce light transmission.
