Product Description
*New updated model*

This kit is identical to our previous version of the CNJ 1000 except that the frame and side frames are designed to fit Bachmann's 44 ton switcher mechanism.

This kit will allow you to build an accurate model of "The Diesel That Did It."  CNJ 1000 was the first successful commercially produced diesel locomotive.  The locomotive was delivered in 1925 and put to work on the Bronx Terminal Railway in order to comply with a smoke ordinance.

This kit includes the body shell, frame, roof mounted radiators (install after painting) and truck side frames.  All holes are printed for grab irons and roof mounted detail parts.

The coupler pockets are very shallow front to back.  They are designed to use the draft gear lid, screw, and McHenry coupler that comes on the Bachmann 44 tonner.  The new Micro Trains True Scale coupler might work as well, but I have not tried.

Paint and decals
The locomotive was delivered in 1925 painted in black with gold Railraod Gothic lettering simaler to the CNJ's steam locomotives.  The locomotive was repainted in the early 1950's in CNJs Deep See Green (tru-color TRU-233).  Microscale also makes a decal set that can be used to letter the engine in this paint scheme - MSD-60-231.

We highley recommend priming any of our 3D printed models with Mr. Surfacer1000.  This is a self leveling primer that greatly reduces visible striations in 3D printed models.  The model photographed on this page was received two coats of primer, with only minor wet sanding between coats.

The model shown on this page was printed in FXD
