HO 1/87 Gondola extension #2 - Bathtub

Designed to fit the HO Athearn model of the Bathtub gondola. After their life hauling coal, these railcars were put to use in other areas, hauling more lightweight materials. For this reason, their capacity could be increased, and extensions were added to the tops of these cars. This model represents a typical extension for the Bathtub design, although there are two rib-width variants which I will create, this one being the wide-rib version. Two flanges on the underside of the model are designed to fit inside the Athearn car body. It could be glued in place or left un-glued so the part can be removed later. Note, the model is inverted to orient it for optimum printing. Cross-bracing ribs were added to reduce any warp created during manufacure, but note the thick-round cross-brace must NOT be removed as it is part of the design.
