Product Description
This chassis kit is designed to help you easily build a magracing chassis to fit your existing 1/32 scale, mid-large model car body. Fits most 1/32 accurately scaled models of closed-wheeled full size cars with a typical body profile having a wheelbase from 106" to 124". The kit has the same low profile frontend and battery compartment of Chassis Kit CK4 and a rear end similar to that of Chassis Kit CK2. Kit requires other parts to complete. CK5 is similar to CK2 with the following significant differences:
1. CK5 has a slightly thinner side profile which reduces the amount of interior that might have to be removed for the chassis to fit the body.
2. CK5 has a battery compartment that must be loaded from the top which requires removal of the body.
3. CK5 uses bronze strip for battery contacts instead of magnets.
4. CK5 can navigate slightly tighter corners.
5. CK5 has a minimum wheelbase of 3.25" conpared to 3.30" for CK3.
Features of CK5 include the following:
Adjustable wheelbase from 3.25” to 3.90” compared to standard magracing chassis with fixed wheelbase of 3.0”. If you need a shorter wheelbase you should consider Chassis Kit CK1 or CK6. If you need a chassis for an LMP body, you should consider Chassis Kit CK3 or CK4 which employ an inline motor configuration where the motor shaft runs perpendicular to the rear axle.
20" diameter turning cirlce accommodates 9" radius guide wire.
1.96" wide frame.
One degree of positive toe and three degrees of negative camber greatly improve handling and lane changing.
Shorter front suspension beams allow for narrower front track compared to original magracer.
Accommodates narrower rear track too !
Fits more bodies with cockpit intact due to thinner profile compared to CK2.
Adjustable motor mount makes meshing gears easy.
Body held to chassis by magnets.
Top loading battery compartment requires quick and easy removal of body to replace battery.
Uses bronze spring strip instead of magnets for electrical connectors at battery terminals.
Works best with protected 10440 rechargable batteries, but can be configured to work with shorter unprotected batteries.
Does not require removal of any insulation on the battery.
Does not require hard to find batteries with magnetic positive (+) terminal.
Weighs less than original stock chassis.
Use with steering coil, printed circuit board, battery, motor, pinion gear, and some of the screws, nuts and magnets of a standard magracing chassis which you already have. Designed to be used with 3/32" diameter front and rear axles, along with wheels, and tires typically used on 1/32 slot cars.
Purchase a few other screws and magnets separately from MagRacingUnlimited, or others.
