Hannover built a version of the successful
Rumpler C.I as the Rumpler C.Ia. The C.Ia featured an 180hp Argus As.III engine (replacing the conventional 160hp Mercedes D.III), modified exhaust, and the pilot's machine gun was moved to the right side of the fuselage. While the Argus engine gave improved speed at low altitudes, it was less reliable and provided less speed at altitude. The C.Ia was used mostly on the Eastern Front. Though small numbers of them were tested in winter of 1917, its numbers peaked in mid-1917 when 162 were at the front. Around 375 of them were ordered.
This product comes in 1:144 and 1:285/6mm/1:288 scales.
The 1:285 model includes two aeroplanes and detachable, translucent propeller disks rather than propeller blades. They are joined by disposable links to keep the price down, since single-part models are more affordable. You can break the links with nail clippers, wire cutters, or similar.
DESIGNER NOTE:
Models at scales smaller than 1:144 may no longer be available. Shapeways discontinued the material for which they were designed, and the newer materials require that each and every model be adjusted to thicken surfaces like wings. If you are interested in a particular model in a small scale, please let me know and I will prioritize it higher in the queue.
