When viewed from the side this sculpture is designed to look just like the symbol used by the Autism/Neurodiversity Awareness and Acceptance movement. This sculpture has that appearance from four angles but the colours are only correct from one of the angles.
From above it appears to be a square with significantly rounded corners.
From some angles it takes on the shape of a smile
I made this sculpture because when I look at the symbol that inspired it I perceive it as a 3D shape not a 2D logo.
I spent a long time trying to figure out the best way to construct the shape and tried several different approaches, projecting 2D representations of the symbol onto other shapes, constructing it out of curves made from intersecting shapes and a few more approaches. I am very proud of how it turned out and how I successfully found a simple solution.
I can customize this in any way you like! The current version should be in my hands by the end of May to be photographed, until then please enjoy the renders provided by shapeways.
