Product Description
This sailing steamer, based on my sloop-of-war, is a fairly generic example of an early steamship. While the first steamships did not have masts, oceangoing vessels, beginning in the mid-19th century, were frequently built as sailing ships, but fitted with steam engines and paddle wheels (or screws for warships) as a secondary power source. This particular model is merely a part of my initial effort to produce such a vessel... this is no more historically accurate than my side-wheel galleon.
