This set includes models for the
MGM-5 Corporal and the
MGM-29 Sergeant. The
JPL Firestone MGM-5 Corporal was the first U.S. guided weapon authorized to carry a nuclear warhead. It was deployed to
Western Europe with the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1964 and was replaced by the
JPL Sperry MGM-29 Sergeant. The Corporal had a range of about 75 miles. The Sergeant missile replaced the MGM-5 Corporal and was in turn replaced by the
MGM-52 Lance missile. It had a maximum range of 84 miles. About 500 were built and served with the
U.S. Army and the
German Army.
