This version, utilizes the visual spectrum appearance of Venus as seen through a telescope, which is essentially a beige sphere with very few features due to its permanent opaque cloud clover.
In a similar fashion, Mercury's appearance is closer to its true colour but lacking any large scale feature such as the Lunar Maria it essentially becomes a mostly grey sphere. If you'd like a version with Venus's cloud cover removed and a more geologically defined Mercury have a look at v.1
